DIY keychain with sail rope
Mermaids and sea bears love to run to your home port. This is even more fun with a beautiful keychain. In this tutorial we show how to make keychains from sail rope yourself. For all keychains, there are again our handy shopping lists with all the materials you need in our webshop. Superglue is suitable as glue. Even safer gluing results are achieved with two-component glue.
This keychain consists of two pieces of sail rope in different colors. The short piece is about 12 cm long, the longer ca.20 cm. On the shorter piece is pulled a key ring. Then both pieces are glued into the metal connector.
For a single color keychain you need a piece of sail rope about 32 cm long. The rope is pulled onto the metal connector as shown in the picture. The key ring can also be attached to the sail rope with a pendant holder. The sail rope is glued in the connector.
The keychain also looks great in many other types of segletau.
Wrap the rope with adhesive tape and cut the tape at this point with a ceramic knife.
For the keychain you need sail rope, an intermediate piece, a key ring and a piece of sail rope about 30 - 32 cm long.
Insert one end of the dew into the intermediate piece. Push the tape up to about halfway through the intermediate piece.
Push the other end of the ribbon through the intermediate piece. A loop is created.
Now pull a key ring onto the free end of the ribbon.
Now apply adhesive to the cut surface of the dew in the intermediate piece. Superglue is well suited. With superglue, the dosage is particularly important. If you use too little glue, the rope will not hold. But too generous a dosage is also bad. If you put too much glue in the spacer, the glue will not dry fast enough and the rope will come out of the spacer. For best results, apply an even thin layer of glue to one side of the rope and press the other end of the rope against it. Apply light pressure to the keychain for a few seconds. It's still best to let the keychain dry completely overnight.
Let everything dry. The keychain with sail rope is now ready.
In our store you will also find lots of other material for nautical keychains.
