A nice alternative to a metal connector is the rigging knot. To do this, a piece of sail rope about 32 cm long is heated at both ends with a lighter.
A key ring is pulled onto the sail rope and the two heated end pieces are pressed together.
Allow the sail rope to cool and harden briefly. Then you can start winding the knot. For this purpose is suitable, for example, sail rope with a diameter of 2 mm. The tape is laid down as shown in the picture.
Now you can start to wrap the longer end of the tape around the sail rope. In the process, the loop laid in the previous step is also wound tightly.
The tape is now wrapped around the sail rope until only a small piece of the loop remains.
Through the small loop is pulled the remaining sail rope and knotted. The knot can be heated with a lighter. This melts the sail rope and the knot is additionally secured. The protruding sail rope can be cut off with scissors.
