Process rivets
Rivets can be used to join two ends of ribbons. They are suitable for a variety of tapes, e.g. flat leather tapes, jeans tapes, cotton tapes or PVC tapes. Rivets consist of two different parts!
First decide on which side you want the front or the "nice" side of your jewelry to be later. On the nice side you put the rivet with the pin through the hole in the ribbon.
You can use a rivet to fasten a key ring, for example, as shown here. But they are also suitable for fastening closures.
To close, put the pin of the rivet also through the second opening in the band and put the head of the rivet on the pin. This way both parts of the rivet are now loosely connected.
The next step is to close the rivet tightly. For this purpose, it is best to use a special riveting tool. It consists of a metal rod with a round recess on one side, which allows you to close the rivets without damaging them.
Place the piece of jewelry so that the nice side is facing up. Place the riveting tool so that the side with the indentation is above the head of the rivet. For this, the piece of jewelry must lie on a solid surface. Very well you can also use a stamp block for this. The rivet is pressed together with a strong hammer blow.
In our example you see a keychain. You can find all the material lists for keychains here. If you want to see some bracelet ideas, you can find all material lists for bracelets with rivets here.
