Gemduo Beads - Threading Pendants for Necklaces or Earrings

You can easily make a pendant with Gemduos yourself.

In this step by step tutorial you will see how to thread a pendant with Gemduo beads. You can use the pendant for necklaces or earrings. The pendant is threaded with Gemduos in the size 8 x 5 mm.

Step 1
Cut a piece of thread about 40 cm long. We threaded with Beadalon Wildfire (diameter 0.15 mm).
Then thread six gold coloured Gemduo beads onto the thread.

You will find all the materials and tools at the end of this tutorial.

Step 2
Thread the left end of the thread through the top row of thread holes again. Start on the right side. This way the beads close into a circle.

Step 3
Pull the thread tightly together. This creates the centre piece of the pendant. All six beads are now completely joined together to form a star. You can also thread through the lower holes to give the pendant more stability.

Step 4
Now it's time for the next row of the pendant. Thread the thread through the top hole of the Gemduo bead.

Step 5
Now put two pink Gemduo beads on the thread.

Step 6
Then pull the thread through the upper thread hole of the next gold coloured Gemduo bead. When you pull the thread tight, the two pink beads will slide perfectly between the gold beads.

Step 7
Repeat until all the spaces between the gold-coloured Gemduo beads are filled. This is the second row of the pendant. For extra stability, you can thread through the beads again in a circle.

Step 8
Now thread the third row. Pull the thread through the upper threading hole of a pink Gemduo bead again.

Step 9
Pick up a green Gemduo bead on the thread.

Step 10
Then pull the thread through the upper threading hole of the next pink Gemduo bead. The thread must be pulled tight again so that the green bead can slip between the pink beads again.

Step 11
Now pick up a pink Gemduo bead on the thread and continue threading as shown before.

Step 12
Continue working alternately with green and pink beads until the third row is completely finished. Knot the remaining thread and cut the end.

Step 13
Now the pendant gets an additional stabilising frame made of modelling wire. Cut an approx. 20 cm long piece of Artistic Wire. Thread the wire through an upper threading hole of a bead from the outer edge of the pendant. Then attach a golden metal bead to the wire.

Step 14
Now continue threading through the top of the pendant. Fill the spaces between the Gemduo beads with one metal bead each.

Step 15
When all the spaces are filled with metal balls, pull the wire twice through the top threading hole of a Gemduo bead. Then you can bend the wire into a loop and cut off the rest of the wire.

Step 16
Depending on whether you want to make a necklace pendant or an earring, you still need the right accessories. For an earring, you can attach a fishhookto the loop. For a chain pendant you can attach a loop to the eyelet.
