Make bracelet with leather strap or sail rope yourself

Bracelet with magnetic clasp or rather carabiner? With this bracelet goes both!

With canvas rope or leather strap and a nice spacer, you can easily make these bracelets yourself.

Step 1
In this tutorial you will see how to make your own bracelet with magnetic clasp or end cap. You can use any kind of ribbon with 5 mm diameter, for example, a leather strap or a sail rope.

The material:
You need ribbon with 5 mm diameter. In this tutorial we use braided 5 mm leather strap. Furthermore you need a clasp. You can use a magnetic clasp for bracelets as shown here or end caps. Additionally you need an intermediate piece as a slider. And of course some glue.

The tools:
You don't need many tools for this bracelet! You can cut the ribbon with scissors or a knife! If you use a knife, we recommend that you use a cutting pad.

Step 2
First you need to cut the ribbon to the appropriate length.

You can easily cut the compact leather strap with a knife.

For canvas, we recommend that you wrap the cut with tape before cutting.

Step 3
For the bracelet you need two pieces of ribbon of the same length.

The length of the ribbon depends on the circumference of your bracelet and the length of the magnetic clasp.
For example, for a bracelet with a total length of 19 cm, you need leather strap in a length of 18 cm each.

Step 4
Now you can put the intermediate piece on the ribbons. Push it into the approximate center of the tapes.

The spacer is not glued. It sits like a slider on the tape.

Step 5
In order for the magnetic clasp to hold securely on the bracelet, it must be glued.

In this tutorial we use super glue. This has the advantage that the glue dries quickly and you can wear the bracelet quickly. Please use the glue sparingly, so that it holds optimally.

You can also use jewelry glue. This dry about a day, but holds just as well!

Step 6
Bracelet with magnetic clasp is almost ready.

One side is already glued. Now repeat for the other side of the bracelet.

Step 7
Here you can see the finished bracelet with leather strap, a magnetic clasp and a beautiful engraved nautical centerpiece. According to your personal taste you can also choose other colors or materials for the bracelet. But also with the intermediate pieces you have the choice between many different motifs.

Step 8
Using the same principle, you can also make a bracelet with end caps. The advantage here is that you can attach any closure with eyelets to the end caps. So no matter if you prefer to use a lobster clasp or a toggle clasp - everything is compatible.
For the bracelet shown here we used canvas. You see also this combination looks very nice!
