DIY wrap ring with leather strap and glass cabochons
Slider beads with a setting for glass cabochons can be very individually designed. With our motif sheets we provide you with a wide selection of shapes and colors. The ready glued sliders we transform with this tutorial to pretty wrap rings. In addition to PVC tube, leather tape is also very suitable for wrapping rings. The rings can be made quickly and easily and the combination possibilities are huge!
For this wrap ring, you'll need a slider bead, a leather strap, a glass cabochon with a motif, and two end caps.
First glue the glass cabochon with motif into the slider bead and let everything dry well.

If you need more information about gluing glass cabochons, you can find it in the Cabochon Gluing Primer.
Then glue the end cap to one end of the leather strap and let everything dry. If you work with superglue, you can continue working after one minute. Hasulith jewelry glue takes about 12 hours to dry.
Thread the slider bead onto the leather band and wrap everything around a ring stick of the desired ring size. Pull the ribbon through the slider bead again
Wrap the ribbon around the stick a second time and pull it through the thread hole of the slider bead again.
Finish the ring by wrapping the ribbon around the stick a third time and pulling it back through the threading hole of the sliding bead.
Cut the leather strap a short piece after the slider bead.
Coat the end of the leather strap with glue and glue the second end cap in place.
The ring is now ready. Let everything dry for a short time.

Make your own wrap-around ring with leather band and cabochons

Making your own rings is child's play! In this basic technique we show you how easy it is to create the most beautiful rings yourself from just a few materials. Don't we women often have the same problem? You've been invited to a party or you're going on a date soon and after half an eternity you've finally found a suitable outfit. Then you realise that you don't have any matching jewellery at home, and you can't find the right thing in the shops you spend hours browsing. Because you're frustrated, you look for some compromise that doesn't actually meet your expectations.

So that you don't have to go through this again, we'll show you how you can easily make your own jewellery exactly as you want it. Making your own jewellery sounds a bit complicated and time-consuming at first. But we promise you: it's not at all!

For the leather ring you need the following things: a 2mm leather strap, two end caps without an eyelet, glue and a glass cabochon with a motif. You can use a ring stick to help you make the ring. You can find all these things in our material lists for this basic technique. You have to make the glass cabochon with motif first so that you can use it later.

DIY instructions for gluing glass cabochons

An important part of this beautiful wrap-around ring is the glass cabochon with motif. You can buy many different glass cabochons in our shop. For this ring we need the basic glass cabochon with a diameter of 12 mm. You can also find matching motif sheets in our shop. You can decide whether you prefer a classic motif, such as a heart and a star, or whether you want a maritime ring with an anchor. Once you have decided, you are ready to start:

Step 1: Roughly cut out the motif.

Step 2: Put a drop of glue on the flat side of the clean and lint-free cabochon and spread it a little on the cabochon with the tip of the glue bottle or carefully with a toothpick.

Step 3: Place the cabochon with the glue on the underside on the motif sheet so that the edges of the cabochon and motif are flush.

Step 4: Press the cabochon onto the motif.

Step 5: Let the motif dry completely and then cut it out around the glass cabochon.

Apply the jewellery glue correctly

Now your glass cabochon is ready to be glued into the setting. We use the sliding bead with setting for 12 mm cabochons for the winding ring. It is available in silver and gold. To glue the bead into the setting you need Hasulith dispersion glue. Pour some into the setting and spread it around. Then place the glass cabochon in the setting and press it in. Let the glued setting dry for 24 hours before you continue to work with it. You can also use the dispersion glue for gluing in the motif, but our Glossy Accents glue is also suitable.

You can read more about which glue is best for the different glass cabochons in our online DIY magazine number 45.

Ideas for jewellery with glass cabochons

Now your creativity is called for again! You can design and embellish your ring as you like. Discover the whole world of cabochons and try them all out. You can buy many types of cabochons in our online shop. How about a polariscabochon or the beautiful wooden cabochons. They don't need any preparation and can be placed in the setting as they are.

Or simply replace the leather strap with a PVC tube. You can use the tube in the same way as the leather strap. Both materials are available in many beautiful colours such as blue, red or grey. This way you can match the colour of the ribbon to the colour of the cabochon. We wish you lots of fun and look forward to receiving your order!
