Making jewelry in concrete style with casting slip
The material and tools for pendants in concrete style: Reliefco casting slip, casting mold for pendants, mixing bowl, water, spoon, black and gold acrylic paint, scotch tape and brush.
To prepare the casting compound, you need three parts Reliefco and one part water. First add the water to the mixing cup and then let the powder slowly trickle in. Let everything stand for a minute and do not stir yet. In this way you avoid lumps.
Then stir the mixture vigorously with a spoon for about a minute.
The casting compound is white. To get the typical concrete look, carefully add a splash of black acrylic paint to the mixture and stir the paint. The more color you use, the darker the shade of gray will be.
The mass can be processed for about ten minutes before it begins to solidify. Quickly fill the mass into suitable molds.
Allow the mass to dry completely in the mold. This takes about 30 - 60 minutes. Then carefully remove the pendant from the mold. Any unevenness or casting burrs can be smoothed with an old knife or sandpaper.
Before you paint the pendant, let it dry completely for another 12 hours. Tape the desired area with scotch tape and paint the pendant, for example, with gold acrylic paint.
Glue a pendant plate on the back of the pendant with jewelry glue.
The finished pendant can now be hung on a link chain. To do this, attach a binder ring to the pendant and pull the pendant onto the chain.
For imaginative jewelry from casting compound you need beautiful molds. In addition to the molds from our range, you can also use ice cube molds. After the casting compound dries, the pendants can be easily removed from the silicone molds.
