Chakras are energy centres in the body. According to ancient Indian beliefs, there are seven main chakras or "energy wheels". These are arranged along the spine.
They start at the base of the spine and run upwards to the crown of the head.
Each chakra is said to radiate a particular energy and colour and to be associated with a particular gland or organ of the body.
All together, the seven chakras symbolise the whole self, consisting of the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual being.
When the seven main chakras are open and balanced, energy can flow freely between mind and body.
